How do you price your work? I'm having trouble with some pieces that are receiving lots of attention, but not sales.
-
My wife is a potter & she prices her work based on time/what others making similar work are charging.
-
@eric_guerin Thanks for sharing! I priced similarly..they're matted fantasy art prints. I'll do some more research on what others charge.
-
She also gets lots of compliments but fewer sales. I blame the economy, as buying art is viewed by some as a "luxury expense".
-
@eric_guerin I think it's the economy, too. Too bad I'm finally getting some exposure, and it's in this awful economy!
-
2 years ago she did really well at all the craft shows she did...lately she has been just hoping to break even. Holiday season brings hope!
-
Have you tried Etsy? http://www.etsy.com She's been doing okay there for very little effort or expense.
-
@eric_guerin Thank you for all your wonderful advice! I have an Etsy shop but haven't set it up yet. I'll do that today :)
-
Like any other social networking community, you'll need to engage in the community. My wife's Etsy Shop is http://is.gd/acpj Good Luck!
-
Make sure you do a lot of market research on other brands pricing, then step back and evaluate your quality vs theirs and price accordingly
-
@saurette Wonderful advice on pricing artwork..thank you :)

I price by size and keep my prices consistent no matter the venue. If a ptg doesn't sell in one setting it might in another. You never know
